WaterNSW: Enterprise Bargaining update

Since Bargaining recommenced in March 2022, the parties have met a number of times and discussed and reviewed issues relating to the following:

  • Implementation of the Enterprise Agreement
  • Annual Leave clause
  • On call and overtime
  • Special Leave
  • Pay and classification structure
  • Higher Duties Allowances.

Initial costings by WaterNSW show that possible changes to on call and overtime, pay and classification structure and higher duties allowances will see an increase in these costs to the business.

No doubt members will be aware that our union has been campaigned to remove the unfair wages cap and policy that affects all NSW Public Sector workers. However, due to the NSW Government’s unfair wages policy, any changes to employee-related expenses must come from somewhere, that is from other employee-related expenses or out of the proposed pay increase. This no doubt causes a dilemma for the CPSU NSW.

Members will also be aware that the Premier recently announced an increase to the cap from 2.5 per cent to three per cent (including super) yet it is still unclear how this will occur and how will it apply to State Owned Corporations. The Premier seems to be good on grandstanding announcements but poor on detail and implementation.

Accordingly we invite all CPSU NSW members are invited to a report back on the Bargaining and the Wages Policy.
