Clarence Correctional Centre: your 6 per cent pay rise is on its way

The 6 per cent pay rise will be effective from the pay period commencing 9 March 2026 and will be paid as part of pay period ending 22 March 2026.

The retention bonus will be paid via an out of cycle pay run on Friday 5 March 2026. As per the Enterprise Agreement, clause 20.1 “The company on the completion of the 12 month anniversary of this agreement, will pay CCO level 2 the sum of $500 and CCO level 3 $750 (gross) in recognition of service. This will only be paid to an employee (CCO 2 or CCO 3) on the basis there are no recorded performance management issues”   View your Enterprise Agreement 2025 HERE.

On 4 February 2026 delegates and industrial staff met for our bi-monthly Delegate Consultative Committee (DCC), you can view the minutes HERE.

 Retention bonus

The CPSU NSW originally agreed that the retention bonus would be paid in vouchers so our members would receive the full amount and not subject to tax. Serco provided recent information via the DCC that they realised after our negotiations that by paying the retention bonus in vouchers it would attract fringe benefit tax on the employee. Due to this Serco have agreed that the bonus would be paid to employees into their bank account adding on top of what our members would be paid in tax. The tax will then be paid and our members depending on their tax bracket be paid as close as possible to the full amount. Advice to our members is to wait until its paid and then contact the PSA if there are any issues.

Staffing levels

Delegates raised concern that the lockdowns cause inmates to become unsettled and therefore places further pressure on members. Serco was advised on 24 December 2025  to open area 3 due to the state experiencing higher inmate numbers. Overtime is being offered across the board and rolling planned lockdowns rather than ad-hoc are occurring to create consistency and lower unsettled inmate behaviour.
