Save the date: University of Sydney Annual General Meeting 2025

The 2025 Annual General Meeting for the University of Sydney will be held on 28 May 2025 at 1:00pm-2:00pm.

Further details on the venue and a link for remote attendance will be issued closer to the meeting date.

A key element of the Annual General Meeting is the election of your CPSU NSW Delegates.

We strongly encourage members to nominate to become a Delegate for the University of Sydney Branch team. Becoming a Delegate means you have a say in how your union is run and how, through collective action, you and the Union can improve the workplace rights of yourself and your fellow members. As a Delegate you also have the means to grow the union directly at your workplace and protect the rights and interests of your fellow members in the Professional Staff space.

The union’s strength and capacity relies on having as many members across as many faculties and vocations at the University of Sydney as we can. If you have ever considered becoming more involved in supporting and growing your Union, the Annual General meeting is the time to do so.

As part of the Annual General Meeting the Branch Committee will also elect a number of positions as determined by the University of Sydney Charter. These roles include the following;

  1. One Branch Delegate for every 40 financial members or part thereof
  2. President, who will, inter alia, preside at meetings of the Branch and the Branch Committee
  3. Vice-President, who will, inter alia, deputise for the Branch President
  4. Secretary, who will, inter alia, keep the minutes of all meetings of the Branch and of the Committee
  5. Assistant Secretary, who will, inter alia, assist and deputise for the Secretary
  6. Women’s Officer, who will, inter alia, promote the interests of women members of the Branch
  7. Membership Registrar, who will keep a register of all members of the Branch
  8. Members of the Higher Education Representative Council (HERC), as determined by the constitution of that body, who may also hold other offices in the Branch Committee.

If you want to nominate for a position, you cand do so by writing to with ‘USYD AGM 2025’ in the subject header and indicate which position you want to nominate for.

We will also call for nominations for each positions from the floor on the day.
