Mercer Enterprise Bargaining – Members reject initial offer

Thank you to all the members who attended our last meeting and filled in the survey. The results were clear – members unanimously rejected Mercer’s initial pay offer of 3.25 per cent (plus 1.5 per cent for performance-based pay) for each year over two years.

Following the survey, the Union met with Mercer this week and confirmed members were very unhappy with the offer and had unanimously voted to reject it. In response, Mercer advised that they were surprised that this was the case and surprised that members felt insulted. The union advised a 4 per cent pay rise would be closer to acceptable for members.

Mercer considered the union’s position and have subsequently put forward an increase of 3.5 per cent for each year over two years (instead of 3.25 per cent) and a one off $500 cost of living payment (which was not initially offered).

A member meeting will be held at 2pm Tuesday 11 March to discuss Mercer’s improved pay offer. Details are as follows:
