TAFE NSW: Update on proposed Operating Model

TAFE NSW has written to the CPSU NSW to provide an update on its proposed Operating Model. This is in response to feedback submitted on behalf of the membership by the CPSU NSW on 6 September, 2024.

TAFE NSW has committed to continue discussions with the CPSU NSW on the feedback and consultation provided. Your union, the CPSU NSW, will update the membership on any major updates to the proposed Operation Model from this.

The proposed Operating Model is still going ahead, but with a few major changes that will have positive effects for impacted employees.

What does this mean for me?

Product and Quality Upon consideration of feedback, TAFE NSW has decided NOT to proceed with the proposed change. This means Product and Quality will be business as usual and the employees in this group will see no change to their employment.

Manager TAFE Services (MTS) and TAFE Services Coordinator (TSC) Based on the consultation and feedback, TAFE NSW has decided not to make any organisational changes to MTS and TSC positions in the proposed operating model.

CPSU NSWs members’ main concern in feedback was the reallocation of 30 per cent of TSCs into “community engagement” roles, leaving campus service roles with fewer staff. Based on our feedback, TAFE NSW is no longer pursuing this strategy, and instead opting to introduced 12 new ‘Community and Engagement Managers’ on a temporary basis.

Identified positions TAFE NSW has stated there will be no reduction in Identified Aboriginal Student Support Officer (ASSO) and Senior Manager Aboriginal Education and Engagement (SMAEE) Roles.
