Roster reviews

We have been receiving information from members that changes to SIL packages that involve a reduction in funds are generating roster reviews at very short notice. The changes may also include Disability Workers having to move to another group home as a result of changes to the roster because funds have been reduced.

There are conditions around how your roster can be changed as well as being transferred to another service (group home). There should be consultation around all significant change.

The Crown Employees Ageing, Disability and Home Care – Department of Human Services NSW (Community Living Award) 2015  (CLA)  contains rostering principles at Schedule 4 which state that notice must be given to change a roster and that consultation must occur if the roster and or your line has to change.  Nor can they transfer you to another group home without consultation.

The Social, community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 (SCHADS) also contains conditions around when you roster is changed.

The NORTHCOTT ENTERPRISE AGREEMENT 2021-2023 contains consultation provisions around change including change to rosters.

An employer cannot just change your roster because the roster of care hours have changed. There should be consultation.

There is much change occurring is disability accommodation so you need to safeguard your conditions.

Call the union for advice about changes at your workplace. Ask for an Organiser to hold a members meeting.
