UTS: Enterprise Bargaining recommences

After a two-and-a-half-month break from bargaining, UTS held a one-hour Zoom meeting with your CPSU NSW Branch on Tuesday 22 February 2022.

UTS was represented by the Chief Financial Officer and the Associate Director, Strategic HR Projects.

We agreed on a schedule for future meetings: EB9 meetings will be held fortnightly from 1 March 2022 for three hours. The option of shorter more frequent (weekly) meetings is on the table should added consultation be required around specific areas of the Agreement.

UTS has agreed to create a succinct log of claims similar to other parties at the bargaining table.

The CPSU NSW put forward the tried-and-true concept of a traffic-light system to help focus discussions and clearly identify areas where bargaining efforts are best employed.

Each of the bargaining parties has committed to reviewing their log of claims to present ‘Agreed’/‘Not likely to agree’/‘Room for negotiation’ agenda items.

The UTS Vice Chancellor has expressed an interest in concluding negotiations by mid-2022.

The CPSU NSW EB9 bargaining team continues in its commitment to bargaining in good faith.  We remain committed to being polite yet steadfast as we continue representing the aspirations of the CPSU NSW UTS Branch membership as expressed by your log of claims HERE.

The CPSU NSW EB9 bargaining team will continue to keep members up to date during the remaining bargaining period.

Various change plans in currently process have illustrated in a tangible way to the CPSU NSW and HR at UTS why better consultation is required to be explicitly defined in the Enterprise Agreement.

The CPSU NSW Bargaining team is Andreas Dalman (CPSU NSW UTS Branch President), Greg Hampshire (CPSU NSW UTS Branch Secretary), Mark Christopher(CPSU NSW UTS Branch Vice-President),  Rosa Bow  (CPSU NSW UTS Branch delegate), Anne Kennelly (CPSU NSW Senior Organiser)  and Elise Esquenazi (CPSU NSW UTS Industrial Officer)

The UTS Bargaining Team will undergo changes for future meetings. UTS will be represented by the Chief Financial Officer, the Deputy Director-Human Resources, the Dean-Arts and Social Sciences, the University Librarian and a Workplace Relations Specialist.
