CPSU NSW and ConnectAbility in discussion following positive COVID cases

The CPSU NSW is aware of a number of confirmed COVID-19 cases at various group homes in the Newcastle and Hunter region where members work and may have been exposed as close contacts.

We are advised that all affected staff have now been contacted directly by both ConnectAbility and NSW Health. We wish to assure members that we remain in discussion with ConnectAbility and have sought confirmation that the primary focus remains the safety and wellbeing of staff, their families, clients and the broader community and that all available resources are being provided to this end.

The CPSU NSW has sought an assurance that members will not be left out-of-pocket during periods of mandatory isolation, including those members employed on a casual basis.

The CPSU NSW strongly encourages members to follow the advice of NSW Health including the use of full personal protective equipment as provided.

ConnectAbility is contacting staff to cover vacant shifts in affected group homes. Please be aware that accepting these shifts is voluntary and members should assess their own circumstances before making a decision.

We will provide further updates as more information becomes available.

The CPSU NSW is here for you during these challenging times and if members require further assistance please get in touch with our Regional Organiser Gino DiCandilo on 0417940137 or by email at
