Ausgrid PABO update

PDF version

Recently, the Fair Work Commission (FWC) approved the Protected Industrial Action Ballot application made by the CPSU NSW. Last week, the CPSU NSW provided the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) with the relevant information required in order to conduct a ballot.

This means that the AEC should shortly be mailing out to all CPSU NSW members a ballot regarding the taking of industrial action.

It is important that you tick ‘yes’ to all of the actions listed on the ballot. That will give union members the opportunity to take any and/or all of these actions if the membership decides to do so. Once the ballot has been completed, assuming that the majority of members support taking industrial action in favour of a better Enterprise Agreement (EA), the AEC will let the CPSU NSW and the FWC know. CPSU NSW members will then be legally able to take protected industrial action under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth).

One the ballot vote has occurred, the CPSU NSW will organise a meeting for all members to provide an update on EA negotiations and to discuss our industrial strategy moving forward. In the meantime, if you have any questions concerning the ballot, you can contact the CPSU NSW on 1300 772 679.

Do you know someone who isn’t yet a union member but would like to join? If so, they can join online at www.cpsunsw.org.au/join.
