Fair Work Commission hears Team Leader classification dispute

Team Leader Classification – Oct 2020 (PDF version)

The Fair Work Commission has heard evidence from the CPSU NSW and the Cerebral Palsy Alliance (CPA) in relation to CPA’s contentious decision to rebadge Team Leaders as House Managers in an attempt to circumvent the Community Living Award.

The dispute centres on the work being carried out by newly appointed “House Managers” who were previously Team Leaders transferred from the Department of Family and Community Services. Witnesses were cross examined by both sides.

The CPSU NSW has disputed CPA’s position that the work performed by House Managers is significantly different to the work that was performed by the Team Leaders. On this basis we have argued the Community Living Award continues to apply to transferred staff.

A further hearing is set down for 11 December 2020 for final submissions.
