While the Federal Government continues to underfund universities, and with the collapse over the overseas student funding model due to COVID-19, university heads are being forced to look at ways to manage their budgets.
Universities should be doing everything possible to ensure the wages, conditions and jobs of all university staff are maintained and protected. This includes Professional Staff who are essential to the operation of universities. Professional Staff ensure students receive a world-standard and equitable higher education.
Universities must exhaust all other avenues to reduce costs, if the Federal Government will not step in, rather than cutting wages, conditions and jobs.
This is why the CPSU NSW is campaigning to increase the recognition of the essential work that Professional Staff perform.
