Advice on Higher Duties and Incremental Progression

We have had a high volume of inquiries recently regarding Higher Duties Allowance and Incremental Progression.

Briefly:

  1. if you’ve undertaken Higher Duties for less than 12 months,
  2. go back to your old position,
  3. then act again in the same higher-graded role,
  4. and the combined acting periods equates to greater than 12 months,

there is an argument to continue to the next salary step.

If the opportunity arises we recommend you contact your manager and request that all periods be recognised as accumulated service when calculating eligibility for a salary step progression.

Accumulation of the time engaged broken/unbroken should be looked at when assessing the salary step on a case-by-case basis.

If your manager knocks it back – then come to the CPSU NSW – we’re happy to help.
