CPSU NSW secures agreement to extend consultation period

Last week the CPSU NSW lodged a dispute with the Fair Work Commission (FWC). It was the CPSU NSW’s position that ConnectAbility was not complying with its consultative obligations under the Crown Employees (Public Service Conditions of Employment) Award 2009.

The matter was heard in the FWC on Friday 22 May.

The CPSU NSW was able to secure agreement from ConnectAbility to extend the consultation period and further assurances that feedback will be genuinely considered.

What does this mean?

  • You now have until 29 May 2020 to provide any further feedback. This may be extended depending on when ConnectAbility provides the CPSU NSW with further information.
  • Any employees whose roles are directly affected and are eligible to be redeployed will have until 28 May 2020 to express an interest in another available role.
  • ConnectAbility will not make any changes to the structure until on or after 2 June 2020. However, this may also be extended depending on when ConnectAbility provides the CPSU NSW with further information.
  • Prior to 2 June 2020 ConnectAbility will not appoint any employee to a new role or conduct interviews for roles within the new structure.
  • If you have opted to take a redundancy as part of the restructure ConnectAbility may proceed, unless you agree otherwise, to finalise your employment with them from 29 May 2020

We want to hear from our members, the subject matter experts, on the impact these changes will have on your work. This will go on to inform the feedback we provide ConnectAbility.

Please provide this feedback to the CPSU by close of business 28 May 2020. You can provide your feedback to ">.
