UNE ballot – Feb 2020 (PDF version)

The University of New England has reached “in-principle agreement” with union and staff bargaining representatives on terms for a new professional staff enterprise agreement, following more than two years of negotiations. Click HERE for a copy of UNE’s proposal.

Key elements of the proposal include:

  • 2 per cent annual increases in salaries and allowances for 2020, 2021 and 2022
  • The incorporation of additional administrative increases paid during negotiations, including a 1.5 per cent salary increase in 2018 and 2 per cent in January 2020
  • $500 cash payment for eligible continuing, fixed-term and casual staff (pro-rata arrangements based on ordinary weekly working hours)
  • An increase in the employer superannuation contribution from 9.5 per cent to 17 per cent for all fixed term staff from January 2021
  • Paid professional development for casual staff
  • Enhanced leave arrangements for victims of domestic violence

And otherwise protects core employment conditions.

The bargaining process has been long and, at times, arduous. The CPSU NSW would like to acknowledge the many, many hours contributed by our local negotiating team and thank them for their insight, commitment and unwavering support.

Next steps

As a democratic union, members are asked to vote on whether the CPSU NSW recommends or rejects UNE’s offer.

If a majority of CPSU NSW members vote to endorse the offer, we will write to professional staff encouraging them to vote YES when the proposal is put to a ballot of all staff.

If a majority of members vote to reject the offer we will write to professional staff encouraging them to vote NO to the proposal when it is put to a ballot of all staff.
