CPSU NSW seeks FWC assistance as TAFE NSW drags the chain on long-term temp conversion

Temp conversion – July 2019 (PDF version)The CPSU NSW has filed a dispute with the Fair Work Commission (FWC) in response to TAFE NSW’s failure to act on conversion applications from eligible in long-term (over two years) temporary TAFE staff.

Over the past several months the union has run a campaign urging TAFE to process the applications of temporary employees seeking permanence.

We have made around 70 applications on behalf of TAFE staff in accordance with the conversion criteria set out in clause 17 of the Enterprise Agreement.

Many affected staff have now contacted the union out of frustration at the delay and want answers from their employer.

Despite numerous assurances the applications were in the process of being approved by the Managing Director, we now believe TAFE NSW is not fair dinkum and isn’t taking the applications seriously.

Current status of your application

To those of you who have been waiting patiently for TAFE NSW to act and approve your application, as they have said they would, we can advise that we have filed a dispute application with the Fair Work Commission and will be asking FWC to look into the matter including delays in processing applications.

We will keep you updated as the matter proceeds.
