TAFE Enrolment Pilot a threat to jobs – June 2019 (PDF version)
It has been brought to our attention that TAFE seeks to trial a pilot for enrolments of certain courses at certain campuses.
The pilot has been called the Admission Centre pilot. As Student Services Branch (SSB) staff in Illawarra, Hunter and elsewhere, will be aware management is seeking to fully hand over the management of five courses.
The pilot has already gone ‘live’ a fortnight ago, without consultation with the Union.
This is disappointing from CPSU- NSW’s perspective as the pilot represents a major workplace change that could potentially impact on jobs.
We have made representations to TAFE IR seeking consultation on what changes are occurring and the implications of these changes i.e. changes to daily duties ongoing, changes in responsibilities etc, so that we have the opportunity to provide employee input that will be meaningful for TAFE in its consideration.
For this to occur we have sought all relevant information on the pilot.
TAFE has advised the Union that it will not be reducing resources from anywhere, and claim there will be no impact on the ongoing responsibilities of SSBs.
The union is sceptical of this given TAFE has not approach us to consult on the changes.
If TAFE has not provided a formal confirmation that there will be no impact on SSB roles within a reasonable timeframe the CPSU-NSW intends to formally dispute the matter.
Members are advised to speak to their delegates with any concerns.
