TAFE NSW no concession day for 23 December – December 2016 (PDF version)
Your union met with management recently to request on your behalf that Friday
23 December 2016 be considered as Christmas Eve and to allow all staff to access the half-day concession that would normally be given for staff working on 24 December.
Management informed us they had sought legal advice in regard to the interpretation of the concession days and were unable to make 23 December a concessional half day for staff.
Your union contacted NSW Industrial Relations and was advised that the Government did not deem Friday 23 December to be a replacement for Saturday 24 December and staff could not have the concessional half day granted to them. Staff who would normally work on the Saturday would be able to access the half day after working in the morning.
Although TAFE NSW could have chosen to give staff the time off anyway, regrettably, this year there will be no half day for workers on the last working day before Christmas. As we raise our glass of Christmas cheer, can we all say…Scrooge!
The PSA (CPSU) wishes all members in TAFE a safe, happy and healthy festive season.
As we work our way through the coming restructures it is important that you have a say and your voice is heard. You can support the work of the PSA (CPSU) and your local delegates by asking your colleagues to JOIN the CPSU.
Please forward this to your colleagues so that they know what their rights are, and encourage them to JOIN the CPSU.
